When Rhythm + Flow Season 2 dropped, it brought the heat, the bars, and the drama. Fans of hip-hop were glued to their screens as emerging rap talents battled it out in a showcase of creativity and hustle.
With judges Ludacris, DJ Khaled, and Latto leading the charge, the stakes were high as they pushed contestants through intense challenges—from group cyphers and head-to-head battles to electrifying live performances. Decisions were tough and required unanimous votes, bolstered by appearances from all-star guest judges like Eminem, Remy Ma, Big Sean, and Busta Rhymes.
Ultimately, the season boiled down to four finalists: Detroit Diamond, Jay Taj, Sura Ali, and DreTL. Each brought their unique flair to the mic, but it was DreTL who walked away with the crown, leaving fans buzzing about what comes next for these talented artists. Let’s catch up with where the top four are now.
DreTL: From Winner of Rhythm + Flow Season 2 to Rap Royalty in the Making

Since taking home the Rhythm + Flow Season 2 title, DreTL has wasted no time capitalizing on his momentum. Known for his undeniable stage presence, DreTL dropped his single from Rhythm + Flow, "High Definition," in December after releasing two original songs, "Like I Never Left" and "Don't Call It A Comeback” in November.
DreTL is also celebrating a major personal milestone. Georgia State University’s news site recently reported that he’ll graduate in December 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in music industry—the first in his family to achieve this honor. Reflecting on this accomplishment, DreTL said, “The education I’ve gained here is something no one can ever take away from me. As a first-generation college graduate, this moment means everything, and I’m proud to be a positive example for the next generation.”
Jay Taj: The Runner-Up Who’s Just Getting Started

Hailing from the West Coast, Jay Taj has consistently impressed the crowd and the judges since his first audition with his charisma and immersive storytelling-based bars. While this show-stopping rapper didn’t take home the big prize, he’s excited for Rhythm + Flow winner DreTL.
He embraced his role as a lyrical torchbearer and he also featured DreTL on a song in his November 2024 EP Little Jerry Demos. Taj also released his single from the show, "Believe Me," in December.
Detroit Diamond: Shining Bright as a Cultural Icon

Detroit Diamond brought grit and energy to every round of the competition, earning her a loyal fanbase. Known for her ability to blend raw lyricism with melodic hooks, she’s been making waves in the rap scene. She was applauded for her performance of her single “Pressure," which was released in December 2024.
Whether she’s performing sold-out shows in Detroit or mentoring young artists, Detroit Diamond is building a legacy that’s bigger than rap. In the end, Detroit Diamond wants to build generational wealth for her family.
She told Tudum, “I want to leave them a real legacy. I want to be able to touch the people and heal them through my music. I want my music to lead to investments, movies, deals, and bigger opportunities all over the world.”
Sura Ali: Carving Her Lane in Alternative Hip-Hop

Sura Ali’s ethereal sound and bold creativity set her apart during the competition, and she’s continued to break boundaries since the show. Leaning into her style, Ali released her Rhythm + Flow single “R+N+F” in December 2024. She also owns a custom clothing company called Nunu Jeans, according to her Instagram bio.
